THREE LADY BEARS EARNS ALL-CIAA HONORS, SHAW PLACES FOURTH AT CIAA XC CHAMPIONSHIPS

SALEM, VA. – The Shaw University women's cross country team had three Lady Bears earn All-Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) honors at the 2019 CIAA Cross Country Championships Thursday afternoon at Green Hill Park. The Lady Bears finished fourth overall with a total of 110 points, a huge improvement from last season's ninth place finish.

 

Junior Kaydi-Ann Wint (Kingston, Jamaica) came in first for Shaw with a time of 21:20.8 for sixth place overall while senior Hannah Pealstrom (Chicago, IL) placed 11th overall with a finishing time of 21:38.3 and sophomore Luisa Cury (Araraquara, Brazil) placed 14th at 21:53.4 in the women's 5k race.

 

Fayetteville State won its third straight CIAA title with a total of 35 points while Virginia State and Winston-Salem State rounded out the top-3 spots with 66 and 88 points. VSU's Kyla Frank won the women's race, individually with a time of 20:16.7.
