SHAW CROSS COUNTRY SET FOR HBCU CHALLENGE ON SATURDAY

RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University men's and women's cross country is scheduled to compete in the 2019 HBCU Challenge on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. The starting gun for the men's 8k race will go off at 8:45 a.m., while the women's 5k race will follow at 9:50 a.m.

Both the Bears and Lady Bears are coming off competition at the Queens Invite in Charlotte, N.C. in its last outing. The Bears finished 30th overall, led by freshman Peter Ekayi (Rumuruti, Kenya) with a finishing time of 27:29 (85th overall) while the Lady Bears tabbed 36th with sophomore Luisa Cury (Araraquara, Brazil) leading the way with a time of 21:49 (162nd overall).

Last season, Morehouse College won the men's race while the North Carolina A&T State won the women's race to become the 2018 champions, respectively.
