SHAW XC TO COMPETE AT ADIDAS CROSS COUNTRY CHALLENGE

RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University men's' and women's cross country will take a short trip to Cary, NC to compete at the Adidas Cross Country Friday, Sept. 20 at WakeMed Soccer Park.

 

The men's 5k race is slated to begin at 4:50 pm followed by the women's 5 race at 5:25 p.m. Both squads will be competing in the non D1/club races.

 

Both teams enter Friday's competition coming off improved times from their first meet to last week's race in Roanoke, VA.  Freshman Peter Ekayi (Rumuruti, Kenya) of the men's team finished 24th overall individually amongst 159 runners. The freshman has been the top finisher for the Bears after both races so far. 

 

Sophomore Luisa Cury (Araraquara, Brazil) led the efforts for the Lady Bears women's cross country squad with a 48th finish overall and a time of 26:06 in the women's 4k race made up of 147 total runners at the Roanoke Invitational.

 

The Bears finished 12th overall out of 18 competing teams. The Lady Bears finished 14th overall of 19 squads that competed in the women's 6K.
