RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's and women's cross country teams successfully competed in the Roanoke Invitational in Roanoke, V.A. Saturday Sept.14.
Freshman Peter Ekayi (Rumuruti, Kenya) of the men's team finished 24th overall individually amongst a total of 159 runners while sophomore Luisa Cury (Araraquara, Brazil) led the efforts for the Lady Bears women's cross country squad with a 48th finish overall and a time of 26:06 in the women's 4k race made up of 147 total runners. Both are improvements from Shaw's last outing in the season opener in Elon.
The Bears finished 12th overall out of 18 competing teams. The Lady Bears finished 14th overall of 19 squads that competed in the women's 6K.
Both squads return to the course on Sept.20 to compete in the Adidas XC Challenge in nearby Cary, N.C.
