ROANOKE, Va. – The Shaw University women's cross country team placed ninth overall at the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Conference Championships at Green Hill Park Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Bears tallied 206 points as junior Kaydi-Ann Wint (Kingston, Jamaica) was named to the All-CIAA Team for finishing 12 overall individually with a time of 21:10.1 in the women's 5 kilometer race. The accolade is Wint's second-consecutive honor at the championships.
Freshman Luisa Cury (Araraquara, Brazil ) was three second shy of making the All-CIAA team, placing 16th overall with a finishing time of 21:35.9 while senior Tashay Roberts () placed 49th at 24:24.0.
Fayetteville State University was awarded with the first place trophy after a score of 70 points led by Nelly Kandie who won the individual race with a time of 19:27.2. Saint Augustine's and Bowie State rounded out second and third place finishes with 92 and 98 points, respectively.
