SHAW XC TO RUN AT 35TH ANNUAL GREENSBORO INVITATIONAL

RALEIGH, N.C.  – Shaw University men's and women's cross-country will compete in the 35th Annual Greensboro Invitational Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Hagan Stone Park in Greensboro, N.C.

 

The women's 5k race is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., followed by the men's 8k race at approximately 1:45 p.m.

 

The Lady Bears are coming off a second place finish at the Trojan Invitational led by freshman runner Luisa Cury (Araraquara, Brazil) who placed fourth individually with an overall time of 21:58 in the women's 5k race. The event was the second-straight meet that the Shaw women's squad finished second as a unit.

 

On the men's side, sophomore Mike Lagat (Eldoret, Kenya) led the men's XC squad with a first place finishing time of 26:21 at the Trojan Invitational. The Bears earned a fifth place finish with 41 points during the event.

 

The 35th Annual Greensboro Invitational features over 40 universities from eight states and 2,000 athletes.
