SALEM, Va. - Freshman Kaydi-Ann Wint (Kingston, Jamaica) of the Shaw University women's cross country team made the All-Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Team after placing 14th overall at the 2017 CIAA Championship held Thursday afternoon at the Green Hill Park. The Lady Bears placed tenth overall (249 points) in the 5k race that consisted of 76 student-athletes from 12 institutions.
Wint crossed the finish line with a time of 21:45.5 for the top-15 finish. Senior Briona May (Hampton, VA) came in second for the Lady Bears with a time of 23:36.0 (34th) while senior LaCherie Clarke (Garner, NC) placed 65th overall (27:08.5), freshman Aniyah Ladson (Washington, D.C.) finished 66th (27:10.0) and sophomore Kyla Sanders (Hampton, VA) concluded the race in 70th (27:44.1) place.
Fayetteville State University was crowned the winner of the event for their first-ever championship in program history. The Lady Broncos finished with 35 points while Winston-Salem State University finished second overall with a total of 62 points and Saint Augustine's University tabbed third (75 points).
Thursday's event concludes the 2017 slate for the Lady Bears cross country team.
