RALEIGH, N.C.  – Shaw University women's volleyball will look to remain unbeaten at home this season when the Lady Bears host Johnson C. Smith University on Wednesday, Oct. 17 for Senior Night in the historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. The contest is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

Shaw will honor nine seniors before the first serve that includes Alexandra Masnica (Chicago, IL), Jazmine Johnson-McCoy (Seattle, WA), Aliani Adelis (Laveen, AZ), Michelle Olmeda-Gonzalez (San Juan, Puerto Rico), Saraya Klink (Fuquay-Varina, NC), Quianna Myers (Orangeburg, SC), Keveesha Wattley (St. Croix, US Virgin Islands), Kelly Murphy (Mukwonago, WI) and Christine Ngeve (Greensboro, NC) who will all play their final regular season home match on Wednesday night.


The Lady Bears (15-6, 11-0 CIAA) are coming off a 3-0 sweep of Bluefield State Saturday. With just seven games left in the regular season, Shaw is 5-0 in the Southern Division and currently owns a 13-match winning-streak entering Wednesday's tilt.


The Lady Bears have a player ranked in every category in the CIAA, led by Wattley who ranks fourth in kills per set (2.43) and kills (165). Murphy leads the CIAA in digs per set (4.38) and digs (298) while Klink sits atop in the league with a hitting percentage of .360 and junior Tapanga Moten (New Orleans, LA) is second at .328. Klink is fifth in blocks per set (.76) while Olmeda-Gonzalez ranks third and fourth in services aces per set (.56) and assists per set (6.12).


JCSU is second in the South behind the Lady Bears with a 5-1 mark, 10-2 in the CIAA and 13-6 overall. The Golden Bulls are coming off a 3-0 win over Saint Augustine's on Oct. 8. JCSU comes to Spaulding riding a two-match winning streak led by Gorana Bogdanovic who has 154 kills and averages 2.37 kills per set. Joi Haywood is the team's best setter with 4.33 assists per set (286 assists) while Georgina Diaz has collected 271 digs.


Wednesday's match will be the first meeting between Shaw and Johnson C. Smith this season.
