RALEIGH, N.C. – Coming off a perfect weekend during the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round Up II, the Shaw University women's volleyball team is scheduled to meet Lees-McRae College Tuesday, Sept. 25 for a nonconference tilt at 7 p.m. in Banner Elk, N.C.

Tuesday's match will be the second meeting between both programs this season. Shaw defeated the Bobcats 3-0 during the UNC Pembroke Tournament during Labor Day weekend.


The Lady Bears (8-6) enter Tuesday's match, riding a six-match winning-streak led by junior middle hitter Tapanga Moten (New Orleans, LA) who led the way with 29 kills during the weekend. For the season, senior right side hitter Keveesha Wattley (St. Croix, VI) is the team's leader in attacks with 109 on the year while senior middle hitter Saraya Klink (Fuquay-Varina, NC) post 100 kills.


As a unit, Shaw is averaging 10.9 kills per set (.180 hitting percentage), 13.3 digs per set, 9.8 assists, 2.2 service aces and 1.5 blocks per set.


Lees-McRae is coming off a 3-0 setback to Barton as the loss dipped the Bobcats to 3-11 overall and 0-1 in Conference Carolina action. Statistic-wise, the Bobcats post 10.8 kills per set (.168 hitting percentage), 13.7 digs, 10.2 assists, 1.8 service aces and 1.1 blocks per set. Caitlyn Smirne is the only player for LMC that has over 100 kills this season at 130.


Lees-McRae leads the all-time series against the Lady Bears with a record of 13-10.
