CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Senior Saraya Klink (Fuquay-Varina, NC) from the Shaw University women's volleyball the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday. An middle hitter, Klink took home the honor after leading the Lady Bears to a 2-2 record at the UNC-Pembroke Tournament last weekend.
Klink amassed 41 total kills at the UNC-Pembroke Invitational this weekend, helping the Lady Bears to a 2-2 record during the event. Klink's recorded three games with double digits in kills, including a 13-kill performance twice. In addition, Klink recorded 13 blocks, seven digs, and five service aces.
This is Klink's first honor for 2018. The Lady Bears will be on the docket for the CIAA Round-Up this weekend in Petersburg, Va. Shaw will open play with a tilt versus Elizabeth City State on Friday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m., followed by a match with Chowan (4 p.m.) and Virginia State (6 p.m.) on Saturday.
