RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University women's volleyball continues Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division play as the Lady Bears travel to Winston-Salem State University (16-5) on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Whitaker Gymnasium.
Tuesday's match will be the second time both teams meet at the net. Shaw won the first meeting, 3-2 on Oct. 5. Three players produced double figures offensively led by junior Saraya Klink (Fuquay-Varina, NC) with 12 kills while junior Keveesha Wattley (St. Croix, VI) and Jazmine Johnson-McCoy (Seattle, WA) both finished with 11 piece.
Shaw is currently riding an 8-2 record on the road this season and is coming off a 3-0 sweep of Johnson C. Smith on Oct. 23 that featured a team-best 10 kills from Wattley while junior Kelly Murphy (Mukwonago, WI) and sophomore Tapanga Moten (New Orleans, LA) contributed seven attacks each.
The Lady Bears are tied in the division race with a 6-1 mark with WSSU whom also is 6-1 and 12-1 in the CIAA but Shaw owns a 22-4 record overall.
WSSU enters Tuesday's match looking to recover from a 3-0 loss at Belmont Abbey on Oct. 25. Alexis Gregson-Hammond who finished with nine kills in the match while Mia Herrod added seven led the Rams.
Following Tuesday's clash, Shaw will return home to close out the regular season with two home matches versus Fayetteville State (Nov. 6) and Saint Augustine's (Nov. 9) at 6 p.m. in C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.
