RALEIGH, N.C. – On Thursday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m., the Shaw University women's volleyball team will face another unbeaten team in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Conference in division rival Winston-Salem State University inside C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. Fans are asked to arrive early as there will be limited seating.

The contest is also tagged as "Greek Night" where all greek organizations will be recognized between the second and third set.

They Got History: The match-up on Thursday will be the 28th meeting, the series began in 1994-95 as the Lady Bears trail the all-time series 17-10 but in recent years, Shaw snapped a 10-year losing skid against the Rams during 2016. In fact, the Lady Bears swept the season series over WSSU for the first time in 21 years. In the past three years, both teams have battled it out against one another as they both enter Thursday's match undefeated in league competition.

Shaw: The Bears are currently 16-2 overall and 8-0 within the league while posting a 3-0 mark in the South. Shaw is coming off a 3-0 mark at the CIAA round-up in Petersburg, Va. last weekend. Junior Saraya Klink led the effort after hauling a total of 41 kills, 15 digs and 10 blocks in the Lady Bears four matches last week. She registered a match-high 15 kills and five blocks against the Trojans and 12 kills against the Lady Vikings. The 5-foot-10 middle hitter was named CIAA Volleyball Player of the Week for her efforts while head coach DiShondra Goree was named CIAA Coach of the Week for the second time this season.

Klink leads the league in kills at 152 (2.62 k/s), following junior Kelly Murphy (Mukwonago, WI) who has 140 (2.37 k/s). The squad owns a 12-match win-streak and are stand 4-0 at home so far on their 2017 campaign. Shaw has combined for 12.69 kills per set (.240 hitting percentage), 15.48 digs per outing, 2.34 service aces and 1.80 blocks in 18 matches.

Winston-Salem State: Under head coach Andi Henderson, the Rams are 11-3 overall, 8-0 CIAA and 2-0 in the South as well. Similar to Shaw, WSSU went undefeated in the CIAA round-up last weekend led by Mia Herrod who has 126 total kills (2.68 kills per set) on the year and Jasmine Smith with 120 (2.40 k/s). In 14 matches played on the season, the Rams average 11.26 kills per set for a hitting percentage of .209.

Up Next: The Lady Bears will travel to Fayetteville State University for another division match on Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. in Felton J. Capel Arena.
