RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's volleyball team had two players receive Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Conference (CIAA) weekly honors announced Tuesday, Sept. 13. Junior Kelly Murphy (Mukwonago, WI) was named CIAA Volleyball Player of the Week while freshman Camryn Miles (Fontana, CA) was chosen as CIAA Volleyball Rookie of the Week for week two.
Murphy, a 5-foot-8 outside hitter combined for a total of 64 kills and 82 digs during the UNC Pembroke Tri-Match and Concord Classic Tournament this past weekend. Murphy helped guide the Lady Bears to a 3-2 record against quality opponents. She recorded double figures in four of the seven games played this week, including 15 kills and 26 digs against Concord.
Miles, a 5-foot-8 outside hitter tallied five kills, four service aces, three digs and one assist against West Virginia Tech.
