GREENSBORO, N.C. – Despite a rainy forecast for the two-day meet, the Shaw University women's outdoor track and field team showed progress at the 2019 Aggie Invitational hosted by North Carolina A&T State University Saturday afternoon at the BB&T Stadium.
Junior Kaydi-Ann Wint (Kingston, Jamaica) smashed her record in the 800m run, punching in a time of 2:13.05 for a first place finish her heat and 10th overall finish. Wint had set the record in 2018 with an original time of 2:14.94 in the event.
Other Notable Highlights
- Laquell Harris (Nassau, Bahamas) earned a fifth place finish in the shot put with a toss of 11.94m.
- Shaw grabbed seventh overall in the 4x100m relay (48.30) that included sophomore Damoni Neal (Newport News, VA), senior La'Cherie Clarke (Raleigh, NC), junior Yanika McCrea (Kingston, Jamaica) and Wint.
- Wint came in second place in her heat of the 400m dash with a time of 56.42, good for seventh place overall.
- Neal won her heat in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.90 which was good for 18th overall.
Next up, Shaw compete in the UCS Open in Columbia, S.C. on Apr. 20.
