HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Shaw University women's outdoor track and field team placed in eight events at the Vertklasse Meeting in High Point, N.C. this weekend hosted by High Point University at the Vert Stadium.
Senior Kyla Sanders (Hampton, VA) reported four events in the top-8, highlighted by a sixth place finish in the 200m heptathlon and 800m heptathlon.
- Sanders placed seventh in the women long jump heptathlon (4.78m) and eighth in the shot put heptathlon (8.37m). In the javelin heptathlon, Sanders grabbed 10th with a 17.25m mark.
- Senior La'Cherie Clarke (Raleigh, NC) finished 10th in the 100m run with a time of 12.17.
- Sophomore Luisa Cury (Ararquara, Brazil) earned 10th in the 3000m steeplechase. She finished the race in 13:54.89.
- Senior Laquel Harris (Nassau, Bahamas) came in 10th after hitting a mark of 11.89m in the shot put.
Shaw will return to action Friday, Mar. 29 and Saturday, Mar. 30 at the Fred Hardy Classic in Richmond, Va.
