RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University women's outdoor track and field heads to High Point, N.C. for the annual High Point Vertklasse meet at Vert Stadium Friday, Mar. 22 through Saturday, Mar. 23. The Lady Bears competed in the event two seasons ago that featured three top-15 finishes.

Shaw will face a competition from over 20 schools, including DII CIAA members Johnson C. Smith and Winston-Salem State. The event is combined with the Bill Webb Combined Events so on Thursday; things will be combined with events, running through Saturday. The women's heptathlon kicks the festivities off with a 2 p.m. start time over in the 100m hurdles, followed by a 2:30 p.m. decathlon start time in the 100m dash. On Friday, the men's discus will start things off at 10 a.m. and then Saturday's events will start at 9 a.m. with the hammer throw and the 800m.
The Lady Bears are coming off a good showing at the 49er Classic where Shaw produced four top-10 finishes including third place in the discus (45.17m) and 400m (56.28) by senior Laquel Harris (Nassau, Bahamas) and junior Kaydi-Ann Wint (Kingston, Jamaica).
Following the Vertklasse meet, Shaw will compete in the Fred Hardy Classic hosted by the University of Richmond on Mar. 29-30 in Richmond, Va.
