RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's outdoor track and field team will send two athletes to the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Johnson C. Smith University Thursday, May 24 through Saturday, May 26, as sophomore's Tiarra Derosa (Sandy's, Bermuda) and Laquel Harris (Nassau, Bahamas) will travel to Charlotte, N.C., to vie for national titles.
The NCAA Outdoor Championships, which will be held at the Irwin Belk Complex on the campus of JCSU, features live coverage each day on ncaa.com or www.shawbears.com.
The event will mark the second consecutive year that Shaw has participated at the national level. Last year, the Lady Bears had one in former standout Destinee Williams who competed in the 100-meter. This season, the Lady Bears have two athletes competing in the discus.
Both Derosa and Harris were selected All-Atlantic Region, joining three other Lady Bears in junior La'Cherie Clarke (Raleigh, NC), freshman Tyefah Saunders (Kingston, Jamaica) and sophomore Kaydi-Ann Wint (Kingston, Jamaica).
Additionally, Shaw joins 19 other student-athletes who will collectively represent the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Conference.
