CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Shaw University women's outdoor track and field program garnered two wins this week as the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Conference announced the winners of week 5 for women's outdoor track and field. Junior Kyla Sanders (Hampton, VA) and head coach Nadia Alexander-Pompey were the recipients of CIAA Runner and Coach of the Week.
The accolade is the fourth-consecutive for Alexander-Pompey this season. The Lady Bears had five top-5 finishes at the VSU Trojan Invite held last weekend in Ettrick, Va. Meanwhile, Sanders won her first career event in the 400-meter hurdles at the meet with a time of 1:08.42.
Shaw is competing at the prestigious Penn Relays this week.
