RALEIGH, N.C. – Steady riding a strong outdoor-season in its past three meets, the Shaw University women's outdoor track and field team will head to Greensboro, N.C. to participate in the Aggie Invite hosted by North Carolina A&T this weekend, beginning on Friday, Apr. 13.
The women's javelin throw will kick off the meet at 5 p.m. and the running events is scheduled to start also at 5 p.m. with the women's 100-meter hurdles. Saturday, events will start with the women's triple jump at 9 a.m., followed by the 4x100-meter relay at 11 a.m. for the running events.
Last weekend at the JCSU Invite, which took place at the Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte, N.C., Shaw came away with two first place titles individually by sophomore Kaydi-Ann Wint (Kingston, Jamaica) (800-meter run) and freshman Tyefah Saunders (Kingston, Jamaica) (shot put).
This was the third consecutive meet that Shaw took home wins in an event. Among other highlights from last weekend's meet, head coach Nadia Alexander-Pompey was chosen as the CIAA women's outdoor track and field coach of the week for the second-consecutive time this season.
Shaw is scheduled to compete at the VSU Invite hosted by Virginia State University on Apr. 21.
