RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's tennis team will take on Johnson C. Smith University in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division match today at 2 p.m. from the Coleman/Cuthbertson Tennis Courts on the campus of JCSU in Charlotte, N.C.
The Lady Bears are 2-2 overall and have not competed since Feb. 17 due to inclement weather over the last two weeks, including its most recent match against Livingstone which was also postponed on Tuesday due to rain.
This will be the first of two meetings between Shaw and Johnson C. Smith this season. The two teams have become rivals over the last two years.
The Lady Bears defeated the Golden Bulls in the CIAA championship a year ago while JCSU was the lone conference team to defeat Shaw during the regular season in 2019 – snapping the Lady Bears 27-straight wins against conference opponents.
The Golden Bulls are 1-7 overall after claiming its first win of the season against Virginia State, 4-0 on Mar. 8.
