WOMEN’S TENNIS TO OPEN CONFERENCE PLAY AT LIVINGSTONE TUESDAY

RALEIGH, N.C. The Shaw University women's tennis team will return to action Tuesday, Mar. 10 with a road contest at Livingstone College for its Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division opener at 1 p.m.

 

The Lady Bears are 2-2 overall entering Tuesday's match, Shaw has not competed since Feb. 17 after a pair of matches with Chowan and Virginia Union were postponed due to inclement weather.

 

During Shaw's last outing, the Lady Bears suffered a 7-0 defeat by the hands of Catawba in Salisbury, N.C.

 

Freshman Chetna Kumari (Gurgaon, India) leads Shaw with a 3-1 mark at the No. 3 singles position while Kumari and sophomore Kundai Manyonga (Harare, Zimbabwe) are 2-1 at the No. 2 doubles.

 

Livingstone is coming off a 5-1 setback to Virginia State (Mar. 8). The Lady Blue Bears are 0-1 to start the 2020 season.  

 

Shaw has won the last 16 meetings against the Lady Blue Bears dating back to 2012.
