WOMEN’S TENNIS TRAVELS TO CATAWBA MONDAY

RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University women's tennis travels to Catawba Monday for a 1 p.m. matchup at the Johnson Tennis Center in Salisbury, N.C.

 

The Lady Bears are 1-2 entering Monday's tilt, coming off a 6-0 victory against Pfeiffer University on Saturday (Feb. 15). Shaw took a 1-0 lead after doubles, capturing doubles 1 and 2 before collecting convincing wins in five of the six singles over the Falcons.

 

Freshman Chetna Kumari (Gurgaon, India) is 2-0 to lead Shaw at the No. 3 position. In doubles, Kumari and sophomore Kundai Manyonga (Harare, Zimbabwe) are 1-2 in doubles action at the No. 2 spot.

 

Catawba enters Monday's match with a 1-2 record, defeating Limestone, 5-2 in its last outing.

 

This will be the first meeting between Shaw and Catawba for 2020. Shaw fell 7-0 to the Indians last season in Raleigh.
