RALEIGH, N.C. – Coming off a 7-0 win against Fayetteville State Monday, the Shaw University women's tennis team will have an opportunity to claim its 10th-straight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division title with with a win at foe Johnson C. Smith University Tuesday (Apr. 23) at 2 p.m. in Charlotte, N.C.
The Lady Bears (13-9) are 6-1 in the South while JCSU (11-9) is 5-1 in the South. The team's met earlier this season as the Golden Bulls snapped Shaw's 27-match win-streak against CIAA opponents with a 4-2 win back on Mar. 27.
Since the setback, the Lady Bears has been able to win three consecutive CIAA matches and with a division title on the line, Shaw will look for the ultimate revenge with the help of having all six players back for the CIAA's women's tennis showdown of the regular season.
JSCU's lone division lost came against Winston-Salem State, 4-3 on Apr. 18.
