WOMEN’S TENNIS PREPARES FOR ROAD TRIP THIS WEEKEND

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's tennis team will wrap up its nonconference regular season slate with a pair of road matches this weekend, beginning with a match at Bluefield State College Friday (Apr. 19) at 1 p.m. in Bluefield, W.V. The Lady Bears nonconference finale will be on Saturday (Apr. 20) at Bluefield College at 10 a.m. in Bluefield, Va.

Shaw (12-8) earned a 4-3 win against Chowan Tuesday, snapping a two match losing skid. The Lady Bears will take on Bluefield State team that is 5-16 on the year and 4-4 at home. The Lady Blues have lost is last three matches including a 7-0 contest at Radford on Apr. 10.

Last year, Shaw and Bluefield State met in West Virginia on Apr. 3 where the Lady Bears defeated the Lady Blues 5-0.

The Bluefield Lady Rams the institution's athletic website does not indicate what their overall record is. Shaw and Bluefield also have met each other since the 2017 season where the Lady Bears won 6-3.

Bluefield State is a NCAA Division II program out of the United States College Athletic Association (USCAA) Conference while Bluefield is an associate of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
