LADY BEARS FALLS AT SALEM, 4-0 IN WOMEN'S TENNIS

 

SALEM, W. Va. – Shaw University women's tennis fell to Salem University Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference contest on the road. The Lady Bears dip to 10-5 overall while Salem improves to 11-2 on the year.

 

Still missing junior Helena Fekete (Belgrade, Serbia) due to illness, the Lady Bears started the match a player short and a result, Shaw trailed 1-0 after doubles with 6-1 loss at the No. 1 and 6-0 setback at the No. 2.

 

In singles, senior Teodora Jovanovic (Nis, Serbia) fell 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 while freshman Kundai Manyonga (Harare, Zimbabwe) fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 as the Tigers earned a default win at the No. sixth position.

 

The Lady Bears will look to get back into the win column on Friday, Apr. 5 with a home match against Fayetteville State scheduled for 1 p.m. at Worthdale Park.
