WOMEN’S TENNIS FALLS AT BARTON, 7-0

WILSON, N.C. – The Shaw University women's tennis team continued non-conference action Monday with a 7-0 loss at Barton College. The Lady Bears two-game wins-streak was snapped by the Bulldogs at the Barton Tennis Complex.

The Lady Bears opened the match by dropping two of the three doubles matches to give the Bulldogs the doubles point. Senior Carmen Mantecon (Madrid, Spain) and junior Sira Dibe (Tucumon, Argentina) earned a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles for the Lady Bears. Shaw was swept in all six singles matches, with senior Teodora Jovanovic (Nis, Serbia) falling at the No. 1 singles 7-5, 6-0.

Shaw, now 2-3 returns to action on Friday, Mar. 8 against Virginia Union. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. at Lions Park.
