BLUEFIELD, WV – The Shaw University women's tennis team went 2-0 in doubleheader against Bluefield State College (0-15) and West Virginia Wesleyan (8-6), for their 13th-consecutive victory on the season Tuesday afternoon. The win improves the Lady Bears to 5-1 overall in a non-conference match.

Against the Lady Bobcats, the Lady Bears earned an 8-5 victory at the No. 1  doubles led by senior Daniela Vanko  (Montreal, Quebec) and senior Marilyne Kamegne  (Yaoundé, Cameroon) before junior Carmen Mantecon (Madrid, Spain) and senior Andrijana Martic (Belgrade, Serbia) won 8-5 at the No. 2. WVW forfeited the No. 3 doubles as the Lady Bears took a 3-0 lead heading into singles competition. Shaw won two-straight in singles action to cruise to the 5-0 match victory over the Lady Bobcats.

In the day's nightcap, Shaw earned an 8-1 victory at the No. 1 doubles featuring duo Vanko and senior  Kamegne, following Mantecon and Martic with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles. Junior Teodora Jovanovic (Nis, Serbia) and sophomore Helena Fekete (Belgrade, Serbia) claimed an 8-0 decision against the Lady Blues for the 3-0 advantage heading into singles play.

Similar to the day's first contest, the Lady Bears secured wins at the No. 2 and 4 singles led by Mantecon and Martic for the 5-0 victory.
