RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's soccer team will return to the road to face Newberry College Wednesday, Oct. 29 at the Smith Road Complex. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
Shaw returns to the field coming off a 4-2 victory over Salem (W.V.) on Saturday, Oct. 22. in Morgantown, W.V., bringing their record to 6-7 on the season. The Lady Bears have now won five out of their last seven matches. Shaw finished the match outshooting Salem by a wide margin of 26-5 with 16 of those shots being on goal. The Lady Bears were also awarded nine corner kicks to just one from the Tigers.
Newberry enters the match coming off a 3-2 OT loss to common opponent Lincoln Memorial on Oct. 26. The Wolves fell behind 2-0 at the half before tying the match at 2-2 sending the match to overtime. LMU scored the game winner in the 97th minute dropping Newberry's record to 6-5-3 overall. The Wolves are a members of the Conference Carolinas.
Shaw leads the all-time series 1-0 against the Wolves, winning the only other matchup 4-2 on Nov. 4, 2018.
