RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's soccer team will look to start another win streak as the Lady Bears travel to Charlotte, N.C. to face Queens University (N.C.) Saturday, Oct. 12. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. at the Queens Sports Complex.
The Lady Bears are coming off a disappointing 2-0 loss to Tusculum University on Wednesday, Oct. 9. in Greenville, Tenn., bringing their record to 4-6 on the season. The loss also snapped Shaw's three match winning streak.
Shaw struggled offensively only putting up one shot during the opening stanza. Tusculum converted a penalty kick for their first goal to go ahead 1-0 at the half. The Pioneers iced the contest with a goal in the 68'. Senior keeper Caylie Hartman (Commerce City, CO) finished with three saves for the match.
Queens (N.C.) enters the match coming off a hard fought 2-1 victory of Limestone College also on this past Wednesday. The Royals scored a late goal to prevail and enter Saturday's contest with an overall record of 7-4-1. Queens (N.C.) puts an average of 11.7 shots on goal per match while allowing a stingy 1.25 goals on the defensive end.
Saturday's match up versus the Royals will be the first in program history.
