RALEIGH, N.C. – UNC Pembroke would convert a corner kick just inside of a minute left in double overtime to
hand the Shaw University women's soccer team a 1-0 loss in the Lady Bears first complete match of the
season at the MAC Sports and Entertainment Complex Wednesday afternoon.
Shaw falls to 0-1 on the season while UNCP improves to 3-0 so far this season.
The Braves would dominate time of possession and shots on goal with Shaw not recording its first official shot
on goal until late in the second half. The Braves would officially outshoot Shaw 17-1 for the contest but only
five of those 17 would be on goal for the Braves.
At 108'; UNCP hit pay dirt, converting a corner kick from the right side into a header in the back corner to
escape with the 1-0 victory in double overtime.
Shaw returns to action Sunday, Sept. 15 as they take the short trip across town to take on Meredith. Kickoff is
slated for 1 p.m.
