RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University head women's soccer coach Matthew Brown released Monday the team's schedule for the upcoming 2019 season.
The Lady Bears will play six matches at the MAC Sports & Entertainment (8924 Midway West Road, Raleigh, NC 27617) in Brown's second season at the helm. In total, Shaw's schedule features five matches against teams from the Conference Carolinas.
Shaw begins the campaign with its home opener versus Barton on Sept. 5 before a 118-mile trek at Chowan on Sept. 9.
The Lady Bears will return to the MAC on Sept. 11 for the programs first ever meeting with UNC Pembroke, followed by a tilt with neighbor Meredith (Sept. 15).
On Sept. 21, Shaw will begin a three-match road swing featuring a visit at Coker, Lincoln Memorial (Sept. 24) and Catawba (Sept. 28). The Lady Bears will then host King (Tenn.) on Oct. 1 before another road swing at Converse (Oct. 3), Mars Hill (Oct. 5), Tusculum (Oct. 9) and Queens (N.C.) on Oct. 12.
Shaw will then close out the month of October with a home contest against Southern Wesleyan (Oct. 16), and a pair of road matches with Salem (Oct. 26) and Newberry (Oct. 30).
In the final regular season contest, the Lady bears will face Salem for Senior Day.
Following its historic run in 2018 with a 12-4 record, the Lady Bears welcome eight new faces to this year's squad while 16 players return from last season.
