RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University men's and women's soccer will travel to Wingate University on Friday, Oct. 26 for a doubleheader beginning with the women's game at 4 p.m., followed by the men's game at 6:30 p.m. at the WU Soccer Complex.
Both contests will be the first meetings between the four programs in school history.
The Lady Bears (10-3) will face a talented Bulldogs team that is 7-6-2 overall after earning a 7-0 victory over Coker Monday. Meanwhile Shaw is also coming off a victory of its own that included junior Teffie-Ann Brown () scoring the game winner in double overtime Wednesday against Southern Wesleyan.
WU is 5-2-1 at home this season as the Bulldogs average 1.93 goals scored per game (.114 shot %) the Lady Bears average 3.23 goals per game (.188 shot %).
The Bears (5-8-1) looks to snap back after a 5-3 setback at Lenoir-Rhyne Wednesday night. Junior Andre Matzuda (Gardena, CA) scored two goals but it would be enough to overcome the large deficit the Bears faced in the first half. In 14 games, Shaw has averaged 2.79 goals per game on .183 shooting.
As for the Bulldogs men's squad, WU is 8-5-1 after a defeating Coker 3-0 in its last outing. Collectively, Wingate has averaged 1.71 goals per game (.114 shot %). The Bulldogs are 6-0-1 at home this season.
