RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's soccer team will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 14 when the Lady Bears travel to Lincoln, Pa., to tangle with the Lady Lions of Lincoln (Pa.) University. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
The Lady Bears are 7-2 on the year, coming off a 2-0 setback at Tusculum Wednesday. Freshman Jasa Curry (Ellicott City, MD) leads the team and ranks sixth in Division II in goals scored with 14 on the year while sophomore Shianne Duplantis (West Palm Beach, FL) and junior Caylie Hartman (Commerce City, CO) have combined for 42 saves and a 4-2 overall record at the goalkeeper position.
Shaw averages 3.8 goals per game (.221%) and posts 17.1 shots per outing.
Meanwhile, Lincoln (Pa.) is still in search of its first win of 2018 at 0-11 on the year thus far. The Lady Lions are coming off a 5-1 loss to LIU Post on Oct. 7. Diana Martinez has five goals on 23 shots to lead LU's offense while Lena Rodriguez has 99 saves (.631%) and is 0-8 at the goalkeeper spot.
Lincoln (Pa.) averages .64 goals per game (.109%) and posts 5.8 shots per outing.
Sunday's meeting will be the second time both teams have met on the field. Shaw and Lincoln (Pa.) met on Sept. 20, 2017 and the Lady Bears captured a 1-0 win on the road.
Following the Lady Bears meeting with Lincoln (Pa.), Shaw will visit Lenoir-Rhyne on Oct. 19 for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
