RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's and women's soccer teams will host a doubleheader on Tuesday, Sept. 25 as both teams will face Coker College with the women's competition beginning at 4 p.m., followed by the men's contest at 6:30 p.m. Both matches will be played at the MAC located on 8924 Midway West Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27617.


Admission is free and open to the public.


The Lady Bears (3-0) will be playing the first home match of the young season and first ever in program history. Shaw has not played since Sept. 8 and in its last outing, the Lady Bears topped Christendom, 12-0 on the road. Six different Lady Bears scored in that contest, led by senior Teffie-Ann Browne (Kingston, Jamaica) who finished with three on the day.


Coker (0-3) is coming off a 7-0 loss at Carson-Newman. Dominique Walker was the only Cobra to record a shot on goal.


Shaw is 0-1-0 all-time against the Cobras, the first meeting between the two squads occurred on Sept. 9, 2017 with Shaw falling 2-0.


The Bears (3-2-1) will be looking to rebound from a 7-0 loss to nationally-ranked Lander on Sept. 20 on the road. Shaw hit a season-low, three shots the entire game. Similar to the women, Shaw and Coker have met once (Sept. 9, 2017) where the Bears suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Cobras.


Cobras (1-3) dropped a 4-1 decision to Carson-Newman Saturday (Sept. 22). Jacob Simonis scored Coker's lone goal after finishing with nine shots and six on goal.
