SHAW MEN’S & WOMEN’S SOCCER TRAVELS TO CHRISTENDOM

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's and women's soccer programs will travel to Christendom College on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Crusader Field in Front Royal, Va. The women's game is slated to start at 12 noon while the men's contest will follow at 2 p.m.


W | Shaw vs. Christendom: In their last outing, the Lady Bears (2-8) fell 1-0 at North Greenville Wednesday. Freshman Shianne Duplantis (West Palm Beach, FL) finished with 13 saves while freshman Katherine Inhoof (Virginia Gardens, FL) had one shot and one on goal in the loss. As a unit, the Lady Bears offensive attack is anchored by junior Hannah Pealstrom (Chicago, IL) and freshman Alana Navarrette (Sun City, CA) who both have three goals on the season.


The Lady Crusaders welcome Shaw with a 5-6 record having defeated Potomac State by the score of 1-7 on Oct. 4. Emily Weichert scored two goals in the win while five other players netted one apiece. CC posts a 3-3 mark against competition at home this season.


Following Saturday's contest, the Lady Bears will host its first home contest on the season against Lincoln (Pa.) on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. Schedule dates and times are subject to change.


M | Shaw vs. Oakwood: Shaw (3-5-1) will look to snap a two-game losing skid against a hot USACAA opponent in Christendom. The Bears suffered a 1-0 decision at Mount Olive on Monday night. Junior Thilo Wilke (Karlstadt, Germany) finished with six shots and four on goal while freshman Charles Showers (New Carrollton, MD) recorded two and one on goal. So far on the season, the Bears offense has been led by Wilke who has registered 12 goals while sophomore Lane Vidaurri (Fort Worth, TX) and sophomore Enrico Baldon (Sao Paulo, Brazil) both have two each in nine games.


The Crusaders are 7-3 overall and post a 3-3 mark at home this season. CC is coming off a 9-0 win over Potomac State on Sept. 28 at home. The Crusaders had two players score three goals in that contest as the CC tallied 75 shots in the contest and 13 on goal.


Shaw Bears will return to action on Oct. 12 at Pfeiffer (5 p.m.), following Saturday's game at Christendom.
