RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's bowling team placed sixth overall at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up held in Salisbury, N.C. from Friday, Feb. 7 through Sunday, Feb. 9.


The Lady Bears registered 10,279 total pins, 6,701 team match pins and 3,578 Baker pins for a .467 winning percentage (7-8 overall). Junior Necarri Moore (Portsmouth, VA) led the way for Shaw with an average of 160.10 per game that included a 223 roll during game 10 which gave her the Southern Division highest game average.


Freshman Bryanna Taylor (Apex, NC) followed Moore with a bowling average of 142.40, highlighted by a 211 game during contest five.


Day one, Shaw earned two wins with a 627-503 decision over Chowan and a 669-510 spread against Elizabeth City State. The Lady Bears posted two wins on Day two against both the Hawks (712-607) and the Lady Vikings (691-584) while going into the Baker's round with a 742-702 win over Virginia Union and an 819-659 victory against ECSU.


Next up, the Lady Bears will compete in the CIAA Event III held on Mar. 13-15 in Richmond, Va.
