FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Senior Kiana Rogers (Fort Atkinson, WI) of the Shaw University women's bowling team rolled an average of 172.60 to pace the Lady Bears to a third place finish at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event III at the B&B Lanes this weekend.
The Lady Bears tallied a total of 10,134 total pinfalls that included a team total pin count of 6,895 and an overall record of 3-6 for the event. Following Rogers's strong effort in the lanes was freshman Joan Wendt (Jacksonville, NC) who posted an average of 151.60 – team's second best.
Shaw went 2-2 on the first day of competition, earning wins over Johnson C. Smith (674-610) and Saint Augustine's (762-718). Day two saw the Lady Bears win just one match against the Lady Falcons of SAU by the score of 706-516 as Shaw posted a 1-3 record.
In the Bakers, the Lady Bears edged JCSU (659-654), followed by a 620-574 win over SAU and then claiming a 672-660 victory over Livingstone to finish 3-1. As a team, Shaw averaged 647.8 at the lanes for 3,239 total baker pins.
Next up, the Lady Bears will compete in the CIAA Bowling Championship on the weekend of March 23rd and 24th at the AMF Lynn Haven Lanes in Virginia Beach, Va.
