LAUREL, Md. – The Shaw University women's bowling team wrapped up the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event I in fourth place with a 4-8 overall record, and posted a 1-3 mark in Baker format after competing against the Southern Division teams over the course of three days.
Fayetteville State took first place with a 12-0 record and 4-0 mark in Bakers while Saint Augustine's placed second at 6-6 and 1-3 in Bakers and Livingstone grabbed third place with a 5-7 mark with a 1-3 Bakers record.
In team matches, the Lady Bears started the first day with a 573-562 win over the Golden Bulls but suffered three-straight losses to the Lady Blue Bears (582-653), the Lady Broncos (575-826) and the Lady Falcons (597-634). Day two, Shaw would go 2-2 on the day including a win over Livingstone (593-568) and Johnson C. Smith (592-559).
During the Bakers matches, the Lady Bears lone win came against the Lady Blue Bears (635-607). Senior Kiana Rogers (Fort Atkinson, WI) who averaged 149.10 led Shaw in the effort.
Shaw will return to action on Jan. 25-27, 2019 for the CIAA Event II in Raleigh, N.C.
