LAUREL, Md. – The Shaw University women's bowling team finished third at the season-opening Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event I against division opponents on Sunday. The Lady Bears finished the weekend with a 6-6 with a total of 6222 pins.
Kiana Rogers (Fort Atkinson, WI) paced the Lady Bears with a 155.00 average, including a personal-best 170 in game five.
The first two days of competition saw Shaw claim four victories over opponents Saint Augustine's, Livingstone twice, Johnson C. Smith.
In the Bakers round, Shaw dropped a 643-787 decision to Fayetteville State before earning a victory over Saint Augustine's 661-631. The Lady Bears would fall to Johnson C. Smith 646-726 but ended up defeating Livingstone 629-500 to finish 2-2 in the final day.
FSU finished 12-0 with a total of 8101 pins, 3950 in the Bakers round while JCSU placed second with a total of 6573 total pins and 3457 in Bakers. LC finished with 4893 total pins and 2487 baker pins.
Shaw will return to action on Jan. 27 through Jan. 29 for the CIAA Event II in Fayetteville, NC.
