Ashante Timoll enters her eighth season on the women’s basketball coaching staff at Shaw University. She was promoted to Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator in 2018. 

While at Shaw, Timoll has had a great deal of success as a part of the Lady Bears coaching staff that won four CIAA Conference Championships, including two NCAA Atlantic Regional titles, two NCAA Division II Final Four appearances and one Division II National Championship in 2012.

Timoll coached one NCAA Elite Eight and National Championship All-Tournament player in Kyria Buford, two NCAA Atlantic Region All-Tournament players in Buford and Aslea Williams, one CIAA Defensive Player of the Year – Buford and two CIAA Tournament First-Team selections – Buford and Williams.

Prior to Shaw, Timoll spent eight years at New Jersey City University including the first three years as an assistant coach before being promoted to head coach from 2005-2010. Under Timoll’s tutelage, the Knights made its first conference tournament contention in 20 years.

Timoll was also a member of the women’s basketball team from 1996-2000.

The Palisades Park, NJ, native graduated from New Jersey City with a Bachelor of Science in Finance in 2001 and earned a Master’s in Business Administration in 2013.

Timoll is a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), Black Coaches Association (BCA), and National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators Institute for Administrative Advancement (NACWAA), NJCU Athletic Task Force and the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW).
