HOWARD NAMED TO CIAA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Conference announced its 2019-20 All-Conference awards for women's basketball. Shaw University's senior guard Dejoria "DJ" Howard (Orangeburg, SC) was named All-CIAA during the conference's annual luncheon held inside the Charlotte Convention Center.

Howard earned the accolade after leading the Lady Bears in scoring and rebounding, posting 13.1 points and 6.0 rebounds. The 5-foot-11 guard registered 19 games in double figures and recorded three double doubles on the season with season-high's of 22 points and 14 rebounds.

The Lady Bears will begin its quest in the 2020 CIAA Women's Basketball Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 25 against Bowie State University during the opening round. The game is scheduled to begin at 12:10 p.m. from the Bojangles Coliseum.

If the Lady Bears advance to the quarterfinal round, Shaw will meet the No. 2 seed of the South, Johnson C. Smith on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. from the Spectrum Center.
