RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's basketball team (6-17, 2-12 CIAA) is set to host the second of two regular season meetings with rival Saint Augustine's University (9-16, 4-11 CIAA) on Friday evening inside the historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium which is anticipated be a sold out event.
Tip-off from Spaulding is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the game will be broadcasted live on the Shaw Bears Sports Network with Donal Ware and Daimeon S. Banks calling the live action from the sideline. Fans can also follow live tweets on Twitter @ShawBears.
Fans are asked to wear PINK for the Lady Bears annual PINK OUT game in support of raising awareness for Breast Cancer.
The Lady Bears look to break a nine game losing skid and seek revenge against rival Saint Augustine's who was able to defeat Shaw back on Jan. 25, 73-60 in Emery Gymnasium. Senior guard Dejoria "DJ" Howard (Orangeburg, SC) is Shaw's leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 13.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per outing.
The Lady Falcons are coming off a 61-46 setback to Johnson C. Smith on Feb. 11. Kaaliya Williams recorded 12 points while Shankia Clark grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds. Through 25 games, Williams has led the Lady Falcons in scoring (11.0 ppg) while Clark has registered a team-high in rebounds (6.5 rbg).
With three more regular season games left for the Lady Bears, Shaw stands 2-7 (sixth place) in the Southern Division while SAU stands 4-6 (fifth place).
