RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's basketball team will return to action on Monday, Jan. 27 with a home tilt with the Rams of Winston-Salem State University in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division play.

The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. inside the historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium with live coverage available on the Shaw Bears Sports Network with Donal Ware and Daimeon S. Banks calling the games. The men's game will start approximately 20 minutes after the completion of the women's game.

Both Shaw and Winston-Salem State are coming off losses. The Lady Bears (6-13, 2-8 CIAA) dropped a 73-60 decision to rival Saint Augustine's on the road Saturday, Jan. 25 while the Rams (9-10, 4-5 CIAA) suffered a 65-63 setback to Fayetteville State at home also on Saturday.

Senior guard Dejoria "DJ" Howard (Orangeburg, SC) continues to lead Shaw in scoring and rebounds with 12.8 points and 6.2 boards, respectively. Additionally, junior guard Ariana Fleming (Newark, DE) adds 10.1 points while junior forward Diamonique Kennedy (Beggs, OK) records 5.3 rebounds.

Through 19 games, the Rams have three players averaging double figures led by Amaya Tucker (12.4), Brandi Segars (12.2) and Melody Prichard (10.6). Segars is the team's leader on the glass with 6.7 rebounds per outing.

Monday's game will be the first of two meetings between Shaw and Winston-Salem State. WSSU claimed the season series over the Lady Bears last season, including a 73-61 win on Feb. 13 in Spaulding.
