RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's basketball team will look to get back into the win column Wednesday (Jan. 15) as the Lady Bears host Livingstone College in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division matchup. The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. inside the historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.

Last time out, the Lady Bears (6-9, 2-5 CIAA, 2-2 South) suffered a 68-55 loss at Fayetteville State (Jan. 11) after scoring just two points in the second quarter. Despite the loss, four Lady Bears scored in double figures led by senior guard Dejoria "DJ" Howard (Orangeburg, SC) who finished with 17 points and seven rebounds.


Meanwhile, Livingstone (5-8, 2-4 CIAA, 1-1 South) is also coming off an 81-80 overtime loss to Elizabeth City State (Jan. 9). The Lady Blue Bears were led by Daisa Harris who scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Three other players had also finished in double figures.


Wednesday's contest will be the second meeting between Shaw and Livingstone this season. The Lady Bears were defeated by LC, 64-49 on Dec. 19 as the Lady Blue Bears held a 24-4 frame in the second quarter, similar to its loss against Fayetteville State which proved to be costly down the stretch.


Howard and junior guard Ariana Fleming (Newark, DE) leads the Lady Bears in scoring at 12.9 and 10.3 points while Harris is LC's leading scorer (18.7). Three other players also register double figures in scoring for the Lady Blue Bears.
