SALISBURY, N.C. – Plagued by turnovers forced the Shaw University women's basketball team into the loss column Saturday afternoon as the Lady Bears fell 100-58 Livingstone College in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division contest at New Trent Gymnasium.

The loss marked the worst setback for Shaw this season as no team has scored over 100 points against the Lady Bears since Jan. 20, 2018 when the Lady Bears fell to Winston-Salem State, 108-73 at home.

Despite only playing 20 minutes due to early foul trouble, Shaw was led by junior Macy Keen (Fort Lauderdale, FL) who finished with 24 points on 11-of-16 shooting to go along with seven rebounds while senior KlinTisha Martin (Atlanta, GA) tallied 11 points and four rebounds.

Shaw committed a season-high 40 turnovers as LC held a 58-3 frame in points off the Lady Bears miscues in contest that featured just one tie and a lead change.

In the opening quarter, Shaw recorded a total of 13 turnovers that resulted in 23 points for the Lady Blue Bears as LC connected 5-of-11 from the 3-point line to take a 31-11 lead after one stanza.

Turnover plagued continued for the Lady Bears in the second quarter after committing 11 miscues and falling behind by as many as 37 points in the first half as a result of not scoring since the beginning of the second period. LC outscored Shaw 21-2 for a 52-15 lead at halftime.

In the second half, it would be more of the same as the Lady Bears woes continued to pour. Shaw pulled within 35 points of the Lady Blue Bears but could not overcome their miscues early on. LC held scoring advantages of 26-24 and 22-19 in the third and fourth quarters to claim the win over Shaw.

LC got a career-high from Daisa Harris with 41 points, eight assists, six steals and four rebounds while Kedra Bradley added 15 points, Darra Copeland and Adel Allen with 12 points apiece and lastly, Asia Green chipped in 10 points.

Shaw will return to action Wednesday, Feb. 13 for a CIAA Southern Division contest in the historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
