RALEIGH, N.C. – Looking to snap an eight-game skid in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) action, the Shaw University women's basketball team will host cross-town rival Saint Augustine's University on Friday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. in C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. Fans and spectators are asked to arrive early due to limited seating.
In the event that the game will be to capacity, the contest will be broadcast live on the Shaw Bears Sports network with Donal Ware and Daimeon Banks calling the play-by-play action courtside. Live stats will also be available on www.shawbears.com.
Game tickets are $10, non-Shaw students with school ID is $7. All currently enrolled Shaw students is free with valid school ID.
Last time out for Shaw, the Lady Bears fell 82-65 to Winston-Salem State Wednesday night. Freshman Amani Moxley (Moreno Valley, CA) led SU in scoring with 19 points – a career-high while senior KlinTisha Martin (Atlanta, GA) and junior Lynah Bontiff (Dominica, West Indies) added 15 and 13 points, respectively.
The Lady Falcons have not won a game since Dec. 8 when SAU defeated Claflin for its only conference win on the season thus far. In its last outing, the Lady Falcons were defeated by Johnson C. Smith Wednesday at home. Kiana Clark finished with a team-high 12 points.
Shaw averages 55.5 points per game – sixth in the CIAA while Saint Augustine's is last with an average of 52.2 points per outing. Friday's contest will be the first meeting the two rivals this season as the season series was split last year with the Lady Bears winning the last time out with a 83-83 overtime win in Spaulding.
