RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University women's basketball will be back in action Wednesday, Jan. 16 with a nonconference tilt against Paine College at 6 p.m. inside the historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. The contest marks the final day for the Shaw Student-Athlete Advisory Committee sock drive, all donations of new socks will be delivered to a local homeless shelter in the Raleigh area.

The Lady Bears (3-12) are looking to snap a four game losing skid against the Lady Lions who enter Wednesday's game with a 1-14 record on the season, having lost its last three games.
Last time out, Shaw fell to Lincoln (Pa.) Monday night in an 80-61 decision – giving Shaw its seventh straight loss in conference play this season. Despite the loss, the Lady Bears did get a career-night from junior Lynah Bontiff (Dominica, WI) who hauled in 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Shaw has been playing the last couple of games without its leading scorer in senior Tahniya Sweatt (Pasadena, CA) who is out due to injury. Sweatt averages 17.8 points per game while senior KlinTisha Martin (Atlanta, GA) and junior Macy Keen (Fort Lauderdale, FL) add 14.2 and 12.2 points, respectively.
Paine, a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has not won a game on the road this season, going 0-6 thus far. The Lady Lions have one player averaging double figures in scoring in Keondra Archie (13.6).
Both teams met last year with the Lady Bears taking a 96-61 win over Paine on Jan. 17 in Augusta, Ga.
