RALEIGH, N.C. – On Monday, Jan. 14, both the Shaw University men's and women's basketball team will host Lincoln (Pa.) University in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) cross division doubleheader inside the historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. The women's game will start at 6 p.m., followed by the men's game at approximately 8 p.m.

The day's openings contest features the Lady Bears (3-11, 0-5 CIAA) and the Lady Lions (8-9, 2-4 CIAA) in its 15th meeting overall. Shaw is still in search of its first conference win of the season after falling 58-44 to Bowie State Saturday while LUPA defeated Saint Augustine's 58-50 to earn just its second win in league play.

 The Lady Bears leading scorer is senior Tahniya Sweatt (Pasadena, CA) with 17.8 points while KlinTisha Martin (Atlanta, GA) and junior Macy Keen (Fort Lauderdale, FL) add 14.7 and 12.2 points, respectively. Meanwhile, Kwanza Murray is the Lady Lions offensive leader with 19.7 points while DeAshia Young contributes 15.1 points.

The Lady Bears lead the all-time series over Lincoln (Pa.) with a record of 12-3 but the Lady Lions have won the last two meetings including a 78-57 win over Shaw on Jan. 8, 2017.

The nightcap features a Bears (5-9, 1-4 CIAA) team that is hoping to snap a seven game losing skid while LUPA men's team is also looking to end a losing streak of two games after falling to Saint Augustine's, 72-62 during  their last outing. As for Shaw, the Bears suffered its fifth straight conference loss Saturday, falling 92-79 to Bowie State home.

Despite the downfalls, the Bears have arguably the best player in DII right now in junior Amir Hinton (Philadelphia, PA). He leads DII and the CIAA in scoring, averaging 32.5 points per game while junior DaVaughn Kelsie (Richmond, VA) adds 11.1 points. As for the Lions, Cameron Campbell is the front runner for LUPA's offense, pouring 15.2 points per game while Deaquan Williams posts 13.0 points.

Monday's tilt with make the 14th meeting between Shaw and Lincoln (Pa.) men's hoops. The last time they met was on Jan. 8 with the Lions taking a 86-76 win but the Bears own the all-time series, 9-4 overall.
