MARTIN’S DOUBLE-DOUBLE NOT ENOUGH IN LADY BEARS SETBACK TO LYNN

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Senior guard KlinTisha Martin (Atlanta, GA) recorded her third double-double of the season with 15 points and 14 rebounds but the Shaw University women's basketball team fell 74-47 to Lynn University in the 2018 Lynn Holiday Classic at the de Hoernle Sports & Cultural Center.

 

The setback puts the Lady Bears 2-6 overall while Lynn stands 6-1 on the year.

 

Martin finished the game shooting 7-of-15 from the floor and captured 10 defensive rebounds on her way to the double-double while senior guard Tahniya Sweatt (Pasadena, CA) chipped in 14 points five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

 

The Lady Bears stayed within reach of the Fighting Knights in the first half, only trailing 32-26 at halftime but Lynn outscored Shaw 42-21 in the second half, including a 14-0 run at the 4:28 of the fourth quarter to come away with the win over the Lady Bears.

 

Three players scored in double figures for Lynn led by Christina Potts with 13 points and four rebounds while Jaylen Snipes added 12 points and four assists. Kelsi Fizer finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Fighting Knights.

 

The Lady Bears will return to action Wednesday, Dec. 19 with hopes of snapping its losing skid against Saint Leo at 12 noon to conclude the Holiday Classic.
