SHAW BASKETBALL HOST JOHNSON C. SMITH FOR THINK PINK DOUBLEHEADER

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's and women's basketball programs will host Johnson C. Smith University on Saturday, Feb. 3 for Think Pink. The women's game will begin at 2 p.m., followed by the men's game at 4 p.m.

The Women's Game: The Lady Bears (5-16, 2-8 CIAA) are in hopes of snapping four-game skid and look to add one to the win column with a 1-5 record at home this season while JCSU (12-7, 4-4 CIAA) are 2-5 on the road this year and are coming off a 83-75 loss to Winston-Salem State on Jan. 27.

Jasmine Carter leads the offensive attack for the Golden Bulls with 14.6 points per game while senior LaQuisha Taylor (Charlotte, NC) has led the Lady Bears (18.4 ppg) although she has not played in the last two games due to injury, Shaw hopes to have her return on Saturday.

Last season, split the season series including a 74-73 win for Shaw in the very last outing on Feb. 18 in Raleigh, N.C. JCSU is currently in third place (2-2) in the division while Shaw is fifth (1-3).

The Men's Game: Riding a 50-47 overtime win over No. 13 Virginia State on Wednesday, the Bears (14-7, 7-3 CIAA) will face another test on Saturday against a streaking JCSU's (13-7, 5-2 CIAA) team whom has won five-straight entering Saturday's contest.

Both teams have four players producing double figures in scoring. Shaw has been led by senior DeAngelo Stephens-Bell (Jacksonville, FL) (19.0 ppg) who ranks second in the CIAA and the Golden Bulls have been led by Robert Davis with 22.2 ppg, the league's top scorer. Defensively, senior Savon Goodman (Philadelphia, PA) has team-best 7.0 rebounds per outing (3rd CIAA) while Roddric Ross grabs 6.2 rebounds per contest.

JCSU sits atop in the Southern Division at 4-0 this season while Shaw is second (3-1). The Bears swept the Golden Bulls during the 2016-17 campaign.
